What changed in October 2026
On 12 October 2026, SpaceX Super Intelligence (the company formerly called xAI) launched The X Subscription: one plan that covers Grok, Cursor and X Premium. Cursor's own Hobby, Pro, Pro+, Ultra and Teams plans were replaced by the same five tiers the bundle uses.
The biggest practical change is how usage works. Every paid tier gets one pool of AI usage shared between Cursor and Grok, measured against the Plus plan: Premium has 4 times as much, Super 15 times, Ultra 50 times. The allowance refreshes weekly rather than monthly, so one heavy day does not burn the whole month.
The pool covers Grok models. Claude, GPT and other third-party models are billed separately at API list price, and only from Premium up. If you mainly used Cursor with Claude, budget for that usage on top of the plan price.

Which plan should you pick?
- Free: to try the editor and the agent before paying anything.
- Plus ($8): the cheapest way in, but only if Grok models are enough. You cannot use Claude or GPT in Cursor on this plan.
- Premium ($30): the plan most working developers will need. It unlocks third-party models, cloud agents and AI code reviews. Add your expected Claude or GPT usage to the $30.
- Super ($100) and Ultra ($200): only if you keep running out of Premium's weekly allowance, or need priority access at peak times.
- Teams ($30+ per user): when you need central billing, admin, SSO and team privacy settings.
Only want Claude in your editor?
If the bundle with Grok and X does not suit you, compare Cursor with tools priced around a single coding assistant: Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and Windsurf (now sold as Devin by Cognition).
Cursor pricing FAQ
- How much does Cursor cost in 2026?
- Since 12 October 2026 Cursor is sold inside The X Subscription: Free ($0), Plus ($8/month), Premium ($30/month), Super ($100/month) and Ultra ($200/month), plus Teams from $30 per user per month and custom Enterprise pricing. Each paid plan includes a pool of AI usage shared between Cursor and Grok.
- What happened to Cursor Pro at $20?
- Cursor's pricing page no longer lists Hobby, Pro, Pro+ or the old Teams plan. The plans were replaced when SpaceX Super Intelligence bundled Cursor with Grok and X Premium on 12 October 2026. The closest new plan to the old Pro is Premium at $30, which is the first tier that lets you use Claude, GPT and other third-party models inside Cursor.
- Can I use Claude or GPT in Cursor on the $8 Plus plan?
- No. Cursor's pricing page says only Grok models are available on Plus. From Premium up, third-party models such as Claude and GPT are available in Cursor at API list price, billed separately from your plan's usage pool.
- What happens when I use up my Cursor usage?
- Your allowance refreshes weekly. If you reach it before then, you can buy top-offs or wait for the refresh. Third-party model usage and API usage are billed separately and do not draw from the plan's pool, and you can set spending caps.
- Which Cursor plan should I choose?
- Free to try it. Plus ($8) only if Grok models are enough for you. Premium ($30) if you want Claude or GPT inside Cursor or need cloud agents and code reviews; budget extra for third-party model usage. Super and Ultra only if you regularly run out of Premium's usage. Teams when you need central billing, admin and SSO.
